My Style and Approach
If you would like to know how I approach the day and how I work, please read on below
Capturing natural moments
Standing away from all of the action with a zoom lens just isn’t my thing. I love to get involved and engage in conversation. Don’t let me height fool you, I’m a BFG (big friendly ginger) at heart.
During the day I am always observing, watching and going with the flow. I’m looking for those in between moments, the laughter, the tears, the pure joy.
I will never say “say cheese” or “turn this way” during a moment. I’d rather you be yourselves and capture the moments as they happen.
Posing free couple portraits
I firmly believe that couples should be allowed to be themselves on their wedding day. I want the images to reflect you and the scenery around us. I might suggest to stand over here or there because the light or background looks lovely but there will be no awkward posing at all. I might guide and direct but I won’t tell you to angle your head or your arms in a specific position.
I also don’t want you to be away from your people for lots of time. Instead, I offer an opportunity for the two of you to escape the chaos and grab some alone time for 1 or 2 10-15 minute windows.
I know family portraits are important, but I also know you’ve got a wedding to enjoy! That’s why we keep things quick and easy. No long posing sessions or awkward smiles here – just a few fun, relaxed photos with your closest family.
Before the wedding, we’ll create a list of the key group shots, so we know exactly who we need to gather.

Shooting the dancefloor
Shooting the dancefloor at weddings is one of my favourite parts of the day. There’s a shift that happens - people drop their guard, the music is blasting and it’s just pure energy around the room.
I have a pretty stripped back approach. For the bulk of the day I am using natural daylight to create my images but during the evening I will bright out my flashgun. I’m not one of those photographers who set up multiple lights so it looks like a movie production! I like to keep things simple so I can react quickly to what’s happening in the moment. For me it’s about blending in and being in the right place when the best moves (or the weirdest ones) happen.
So that's it!
I hope this gives you a good sense of how I approach capturing those unforgettable moments on your wedding day, all the while keeping things relaxed and natural.
My aim is that I want you to enjoy your wedding without the stress of constant posing, yet still walk away with stunning images to cherish for years to come.
